Precommissioning Works
PT KILANG PERTAMINA BALIKPAPAN | Balikpapan, Kalimantan Timur
2024
Project Overview
From March to August 2024, PT Elbema Integra Indonesia conducted Hydrostatic Testing as part of the Revamping, Development, and Modernization Project (RDMP) at the Pertamina Balikpapan facility. The test aimed to verify the structural integrity and leak-tightness of high-pressure piping systems and equipment after installation or repair.
The testing method employed a manifold system to deliver high-pressure water to various pipeline segments in a controlled manner. Test pressure was determined and regulated using the Barton Chart, a reference tool that defines the maximum safe pressure based on pipe diameter and thickness to prevent damage during the test.
The procedure began with filling the piping system with clean water, followed by gradually increasing pressure while monitoring through the manifold and pressure gauges. During the test, close observation was made to identify leaks or pipe deformations, with all pressure data recorded meticulously to ensure accuracy and validity.
The entire operation was overseen by the technical team of PT Elbema Integra Indonesia, strictly adhering to industry health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards. Successful completion of this hydrostatic test is critical to ensuring the reliability and safety of energy system operations at Pertamina Balikpapan.
