Exchanger Tube Cleaning during Urea Fertilizer Plant Shutdown

PUPUK SRIWIDJAYA | Pelembang, Sumatera Selatan

2025

Project Overview

In January 2025, during the Urea Plant Shutdown at PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja Palembang, PT Elbema Integra Indonesia successfully executed the cleaning of exchanger tubes using High Pressure Water Jetting technology at 20,000 PSI. The objective was to restore thermal efficiency and ensure optimal operational conditions by removing scale and fouling within the tubes. The work was completed over a two-week period, utilizing 4 units of High Pressure Waterjet Equipment operating in parallel. A total of 19 heat exchangers and over 17,000 tubes were cleaned on schedule, under a 24-hour shift system.

All operators and jetting technicians involved were certified personnel from PT Elbema Integra Indonesia. The work was conducted under strict safety protocols, including pressure control, PPE use, and risk-based procedures. The 20,000 PSI jetting method proved highly effective in eliminating tough deposits without damaging the internal tube surfaces. This successful project underscores PT Elbema’s capability to deliver fast, safe, and precise technical cleaning services in critical shutdown operations within the fertilizer industry.
